Stand Up Paddleboarding SUP
Learn and experience stand up paddle boarding (SUP) in picturesque locations on flat-water lakes in Mid Wales, such at Llyn Clywedog lake or the Montgomeryshire Canal.
The modern history of Stand up Paddleboarding originated in Hawaii in the 1800's using it a method for travelling from island to island; however the act of propelling yourself on a floating platform with a paddle or pole thousands of years to the earliest records in 3,000BC
Not only is paddleboarding a lot of fun, it's also a great workout combining pilates and cross-training to get your full body working.
Variations include flat water paddling for outdoor recreation, racing on lakes, large rivers and canals, surfing on ocean waves, and paddling in river rapids (whitewater SUP).
We offer half day Taster sessions and full day Courses and trips on the reservoirs and canals of the beautiful Cambrian Mountain countryside.
Events
Paddleboarding is an ideal activity for schools, youth groups, friends families, Stag & Hen Parties. With our main flat water base at Llyn Clywedog, the 6 mile lake is perfect for you to get out onto the water.
For those more adventurous we also run Canal and Full Day River Trips on nice beginner rivers.
Our half day taster is a great way to try Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP). Once you’ve had a quick introduction to the equipment and after a short safety briefing we will get to grips with how to control the board whilst kneeling. Once we’ve got that sorted we’ll look at getting stood up.
After all, it is called stand-up paddle boarding. When you’re feeling comfortable you’ll put your new found skills to use and go on a small journey.
